In 1967 Kenny Whalen formed a band called "The Travelers," which is still together but with different members from the original band.  Kenny & The Travelers have opened shows & played behind many big stars over the years.  Currently  Kenny & The Travelers perform along with three special guests  every Saturday Night at Musicland located at 114 Lisle Industrial Avenue, Lexington, Ky

The Travelers play all styles of music: New Country, Old Country, Blues, 50's, Rock 'n Roll, and Big Band.

KENNY WHALEN: " Music Director" at Musicland

Kenny was born in Bourbon County and is a graduate of Bourbon County High School.  He began playing music in high school & played with many bands after graduating from high school.  In 1967 Kenny recorded a song called " Stop the World" (& let me off) bcked with an instrumental called "Wheels," which Billboard Magazine rated 3 stars.  Some of Kenny's favortie guitar players are: Chet Atkins, Merle Travis & Les Paul, to name a few. Kenny still plays today with The Travelers.

Jerry J. Galbraith: Band Member - Saxophone, Flute & Vocals

Jerry was introduced to the saxophone at the age of 11.  In 1965 he formed his first band to play professionally.  He has been honored to play music with many, many bands over the years.  He is currently playing with Kenny Whalen & The Travelers.


Bill Wasson: Band Member- Bass  Guitar & Vocals

Bill has loved music all of his life.  He remembers listening to Grandpaw Jones play the banjo at a very young age.  He started playing the ukulele at the age of 12 and got his first guitar at 14.  He fell in love with Chet Atkins' playing and worked very hard to learn the finger style technique.  He played guitar in clubs and on shows from 1958 'til 1984.  Bill joined a band with Kenny in 1962.  TheTravelers were formed in 1967.  Bill likes all types of music when it is done well and he still loves Chet Atkins' music.

Roy Stivers: Band Member - Keyboard/Piano & Vocals

Roy started playing guitar in 1962.  By 1967 he got a piano.  He has played the guitar & sometimes the piano with different bands.  He started playing the guitar professionally in 1977 and by 1980 had moved to playing the piano for good. Roy played five and six nights a week for 22 years, playing mostly around Madison County.  He also played in the Dayton, Ohio area for five years and was on the road a lot.  Roy joined The Travelers in October of 2009, replacing Mike Mackin.
